Abigail, a professional counsellor at A Kind Place (AKP).

Hi, I am Abigail. I am a counsellor and a Monash University graduate with a Master of Counselling degree. I am a certified therapist trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1 and 2) and draw upon evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I also incorporate mindfulness-based strategies to help clients develop greater emotional awareness and resilience.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in the healthcare industry, providing case management and psychosocial support for elderlies. I have also worked with individuals with special needs to curating programmes suitable for learning. These experiences have shaped my holistic and compassionate approach to therapy, allowing me to better understand and support people from all walks of life.

I am passionate about journeying alongside my clients as they navigate life’s challenges, creating a safe and supportive space for healing, growth, and self-discovery. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy reading psychotherapy literature, as well as autobiographical and fictional works that explore the human experience.
