INDEPENDENT ADULT
PROGRAMME

A post-special education (SPED) school life skills program for individuals with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

About Our Programme

The Independent Adult Program is designed to support the unique journey of neurodivergent adults as they transition into adulthood. In collaboration with Happy Tutors, we aim to enhance independence and improve the quality of life for our learners as they navigate life after SPED school. Our program is backed by a team of dedicated psychologists, counsellors, and special needs trainers, ensuring lifelong learning. At A Kind Place, we believe in empowering your loved ones through personalised hands-on experiences. Our unique program nurtures growth through a low learner-to-trainer ratio and active involvement of caregivers in the learning process. Our programme takes place both indoors and outdoors to promote better wellbeing, learning delivery, and engagement.

Our core units include:

  • Mindfulness & Emotional Regulation

Techniques and exercises to help learners manage their emotions and develop self-awareness.

  • Daily Living Skills

Training in personal hygiene, safety, meal preparation, household chores, and other daily tasks.

  • Social Skills

Development of communication skills, relationship building, teamwork, and appropriate social behaviours.

  • Community Living Skills

Guidance on navigating the community, using public transportation, understanding public safety, and civic responsibilities.
