Li Yi Xin

Clinical Psychologist
Li Yi Xin, a clinical psychologist at A Kind Place (AKP).

Yi Xin is a clinical psychologist (MAHPC(CP)00711) who has had the privilege of working with individuals across all walks of life, from parents and working adults to university students, adolescents, and children with special needs.

She believes therapy is not just about “fixing problems,” but about growing together. Guided by the idea that we are all a work in progress, Yi Xin aims to create a safe, respectful, and compassionate space where clients can better understand themselves, navigate challenges, and reconnect with what matters most in their lives.

In therapy, Yi Xin uses evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). These approaches are adapted to each individual’s needs and may support concerns such as stress, anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship challenges, and identity or personality-related patterns.

Yi Xin also conducts psychological assessments to better understand learning, attention, emotional, and behavioural concerns. These include assessments related to:

  • Attention and executive functioning (e.g. ADHD)
  • Autism spectrum conditions (ASD)
  • Mood and emotional difficulties (e.g. anxiety, depression)
  • Personality and behavioural patterns
  • Cognitive, adaptive, and developmental functioning

Assessment tools she commonly uses include intelligence tests, adaptive functioning measures, behavioural questionnaires, and personality assessments, allowing for a holistic and well-rounded understanding of each individual.

Outside of her clinical work, Yi Xin enjoys reading, writing, and reflection, which she sees as essential to staying grounded and thoughtful in her practice. She is passionate about reducing stigma around mental health and believes psychological well-being is an important part of overall health.

Yi Xin hopes to journey alongside you—or your child—in understanding strengths, building self-awareness, and creating a meaningful and sustainable life.
